Very large room, nice kitchen, great for extended stays

This was our first stay since the Hilton transition, and the collapse in quality is staggering.The resort has devolved from an upscale sanctuary into an under maintained, commercialized venue that prioritizes a "trashy carnival money grab" over paying overnight guests. We paid a premium luxury rate to enjoy resort amenities we could not even access or use. The failures during our stay included: Under maintained Grounds & Broken Amenities: The lawns were poorly kept, and major signature water features, specifically the fountains in the Plaza San Saba and across the main pool areas, were broken and non-operational. Trashy Corporate Takeovers: The central Esparza Lawn was entirely booked out for a loud private event that completely destroyed the resort's peaceful atmosphere. Overnight guests were subjected to event attendees walking through main family spaces dressed in Uncle Sam costumes and provocative lady liberty latex mini dresses.This environment was completely inappropriate for a high-end luxury hotel and utterly ruined our family’s annual holiday. No Hot Water: Unbelievably for a luxury resort, our hotel room shower never got hot water. Paying premium rates to endure cold showers is completely unacceptable.Failed Family Programming: La Cantera used to offer fantastic, engaging family events throughout Father's Day weekendlike petting zoos and piñata events that made our 5-hour drive worth it. Instead, Hilton advertised soap and candle-making events that are hardly appeal

Well, after a long drive, when near to PECAN Street Intercontinental hotel in San Antonio around sunset time, called them for self-parking options. They said they don't have self-parking, only valet parking, though I saw self-parking option @ 80% off while making reservation via hotels.com . When we arrived at the hotel's valet parking, i inquired with them about the self-parking option, and they said yes, but its in the next building out in the street. So i found the parking structure, located diagonally across the hotel, parked there and paid via parking facility's website using their QR scan code Visible on walls. During parking I got few mosquito bites, and my wife got few mosquito bites too at the hotel's valet parking area where she was waiting for me. Then finally we reached to the check-in counter. I mentioned to the receptionist about the 80% self-parking discount, and they knew all about it, and gave me a code to use while paying for the self-parking. I was able to claim the discount when re-accessing my parking details. After a trip to Riverwalk that night, while sleeping tired, next early morning around 4.30am, Emergency alarm beeping and asking all guests to vacate the rooms immediately and go to stairs. We heard on the floor, Guests started leaving their rooms. We got ready in few minutes to leave and I called the operator if still is emergency, and they said, no it was a false alarm, but they did not make any announcement for it being a false alarm.

Everything was great except the outdoor pool was filthy dirty. Couldn’t swim in all the bugs and hair eewwww.
